A day in the life of Olivia and Brooke

Miss Olivia is getting ready for her birthday party this weekend. I can't believe she is going to be 5. I know, I say that every year, but seriously-we just registered her for kindegarten this fall and suddenly she has an opinion on what kind of food is served at her party. WTH?

Her dad asked her if she wanted to play tee-ball this summer. She replied "I don't have anything to wear." Tanner just walked away shaking his head. She loves hunting though-probably because she has something to wear - camo.

Miss Brooke is still resistant to potty training. She will sit on the potty, but that is about it. She can count to ten, carry on a conversation, but refuses to stop wearing a diaper. I guess Einstein was once in a diaper...

We are anxious for Spring like everyone else. The girls love to play outside, but since we have no grass, it is a very muddy proposition right now. I can't wait to get our sod in! We became the proud owners of a John Deere tractor lawn mower, so we are anxious to try it out!

Tired of Being Sick

Thought I would check in to let you all know we are still alive...barely. The Harris house has been plaqued by sickness since the beginning of the month. First Olivia with croup, Brooke with a cold, me with a double ear and sinus infection and then yesterday, the flu struck our home with Brooke. We are praying she kept it to herself, but given she loves to give hugs and kisses - I am not betting on it. How Tanner has managed to stay healthy is beyond me. Needless to say I am ready to bleach our house from top to bottom. Trust me, I would do it if I didn't think that the paint and wood floor might fall apart. I am just tired of being sick!

Ahh Potty Training

We have entered that terrific time in a child's life when they must stop wearing a diaper (mainly cuz Mom and Dad are sick of buying them) and go potty in a huge monstrous contraption that sucks everything you put into it into some unknown place you have never been and never want to go-also known as a toilet.

Olivia-piece of cake. The day she decided to be potty trained was the day she stopped wearing diapers and never looked back. Brooke-not so lucky. Take a look...

Our Valentine's Day

Olivia came down with the croup on Thursday. What is the croup you ask...Well, if you are over 50, I have found you know what it is, but for those of you that are not:

Croup is a swelling of the voice box (larynx) and windpipe (trachea). Because croup swells the throat and voice box, it alters the sound of your child's cough (and voice). If your child has a very hoarse, deep cough that sounds like a barking seal, it's probably croup.

The barking seal bit is right on. Poor thing...that is exactly what she sounded like. Anyways, our Valentine's Day plans were altered...these types of things are what spearate us from childless couples that is for sure. Olivia missed her Valentine's Party at school as we stayed home Friday. Brooke spent Friday night with Gramma and Grandpa, and we had pizza with Gramma Shari and the Pages' on Saturday. Killer Valentines Day, huh?! Oh well, at least Olivia feels better...finally...today!

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I can't think of any other way I wanted to spend mine.

Me, Turn 30

I still can't believe Brooke is 2, but what is even harder to comprehend is that I am 30. Brooke's birthday is Feb. 4 and mine is Feb. 5 so our week was a little crazy. Hats off to my husband for giving me a special day even though Brooke is really the star of the week. We all went to dinner, with my parents, at the SilverStar and enjoyed a nice meal. I really did enjoy my day. Thank you to my good friend Melissa for the flowers. That was an extra special surprise! Thank you to everyone for all the cards, well wishes, and gifts. I am truly blessed with wonderful family and friends.

Brooke Ellee Turns 2

Well, my baby is now 2. She truly enjoyed being the star this week. We had a quiet night at home the night of her birthday with special dinner and ice cream and then a Birthday Party on Saturday. Thank you to all our family and friends who came to her birthday party!

Disneyland

This is the first chance I have gotten to post pictures from our trip to Disneyland. Special thanks to Carrie Mingay for all the great tips. They helped a ton! Also, thanks to Gramma and Grandpa for watching Maddie and the fish.

The girls had so much fun. The time of year we went was perfect - little or no lines, small crowds, beautiful weather and we missed out on some pretty cold weather at home!

Olivia of course loved the Princesses - all of them. We had dinner and met each one and we also visited them at the the Princess Faire. She also surprised the heck out of us by going on the the rides. Since she is so tall for her age, she was able to go on quite a few of them with her dad-roller coasters, river rides, and much more. She loved them!

Brooke loved Minnie Mouse. And Tuto (Pluto). She had a few breakdowns, but all in all did really well for 4 full days , no naps, and sleeping in a strange bed. She loved the Tea Cups and the Dumbo rides, just like any toddler visiting Disneyland. She also enjoyed watching the Playhouse Disney show.

We also went to SeaWorld in San Diego. That was really cool and something I have dreamed of doing since I was a kid.

It was so much for Tanner and I to watch the girls experience everything there. We certainly made many lots of memories!
